Ari Seg Interview
Each month, we ask a photographer to picture a Corneliani Travel Jacket on someone, somewhere in the world. These shots were taken in Spain’s Monegros Desert by Ari Seg, a photographer and art director based in Barcelona. Her work is influenced by music, cinema and youth culture, with a strong focus on visual storytelling. Her work has been published in Harper’s Bazaar, L’Officiel and Glamour.

Where did you take these pictures?
Ari Seg: «These pictures were taken in the Monegros Desert in Spain».
Who’s wearing the Travel Jacket?
Ari Seg «Steve Smyth, my partner. He’s a songwriter from Australia, based in Barcelona. He also works as a carpenter, creating furniture with his own hands. His intimate music feels like the perfect soundtrack for a road trip through the desert».
What was the mood you were trying to convey?
Ari Seg: «Something slightly untamed. A meeting point between Steve’s bohemian soul, the raw wilderness of Monegros and the elegance of Corneliani».
What does this location mean to you?
Ari Seg: «I grew up in Lleida, Catalonia, just an hour away from the desert. I’ve always felt very drawn to the visual imagery of those rock formations, and the peace and silence you feel there. It’s calm but wild at the same time. At night, there isn’t a single light around. When the sun sets, the mountains turn gold».
Do you think the images you’ve captured say something about you – or do you try to keep yourself out of the frame?
Ari Seg: «Every image carries something of the person behind the camera. I let intuition guide me; locations, faces and references slowly connect. Watching it all come together feels almost like a quiet kind of magic».
What do you like about travelling?
Ari Seg: «The pause it creates. Routine dissolves, and for a moment, you’re free to become someone else».
What does your style say about who you are?
Ari Seg: «My work is strongly influenced by films and youth culture. I’m drawn to melancholy and freedom, to those in-between moments where people feel dreamy, vulnerable and quietly powerful».
Do you feel most like yourself when you’re at home or when you’re travelling?
Ari Seg: «I love being at home. But I think I love it because I leave it often. Wandering through London, falling asleep on Greek beaches, listening to loud birds in Sydney: all of that makes home feel even more meaningful».
What’s something unexpected that’s always in your suitcase?
Ari Seg: «This summer, while travelling through Greece, I was always carrying cat food to feed the stray cats. Local cats need our help».
How did the Travel Jacket hold up in the field?
Ari Seg: «It’s the perfect balance between elegance and a sporty vibe. It moved with Steve, like it belonged there».
