Travel Jacket Project

Leander Hoefler Interview

Each month, we ask a photographer to picture a Corneliani Travel Jacket on someone, somewhere in the world. These shots were taken in Copenhagen by Leander Hoefler, a photographer and filmmaker from Austria. His work focuses on capturing authentic moments and the atmosphere of a place, blending a documentary approach with a refined sense for light, colour and composition… Much like in these shots of the Corneliani Identity Jacket.

Where did you take these pictures?

Leander Hoefler: «The photos were taken across various locations in Copenhagen, capturing a balance between the city’s historic charm and its modern character».

Who’s wearing the Identity Jacket ?

Leander Hoefler «I’m wearing the jacket – my girlfriend helped me capture the images».

What was the mood you were trying to convey?

Leander Hoefler: «I always strive to capture the essence of a place to give the viewer an authentic sense of what life feels like there».

What does this location mean to you?

Leander Hoefler: «Copenhagen had me hooked from my very first visit. The city feels incredibly comfortable and inviting. While life in Italy happens mostly outdoors, in Copenhagen it’s cherished indoors, and you can really feel that. Everything is cosy, and by the end of the day, you’ll probably be full of delicious pastries».

Do you think the images you’ve captured say something about you – or do you try to keep yourself out of the frame?

Leander Hoefler: «I believe photos always reflect the photographer and what matters to them. I’m naturally drawn to small details and everyday scenes, always looking for beauty in the ordinary. And you’ll often notice a strong geometric touch in my photos as well».

What do you like about travelling?

Leander Hoefler: «In recent years, I’ve realised how deeply the culture we grow up in shapes our beliefs, values and the way we see the world. Travelling allows us to question who we are and what truly matters by diving into other cultures. I find it fascinating to learn about the world this way – and to see how our perception can sometimes be more powerful than reality itself».

What does your style say about who you are?

Leander Hoefler: «Just as culture reflects what matters to a society, style reveals what matters to an individual».

Do you feel most like yourself when you’re at home or when you’re travelling?

Leander Hoefler: «I’d say it’s always easier to discover new sides of yourself when you’re in a new environment, while home gives you this sense of security in who you are».

What’s something unexpected that’s always in your suitcase?

Leander Hoefler: «Airport security always seems to think it’s all the cameras and lenses I carry. But honestly, I’m pretty vanilla otherwise».

How did the Identity Jacket hold up in the field?

Leander Hoefler: «The weather in Copenhagen can be quite harsh in autumn, but the Identity Jacket held up perfectly and proved to be a reliable companion in all kinds of conditions».
